Alex Cross - Arts Managements and Music GraduateThe best thing is that my CV has grown enormouslyI studied a BA (Hons) Arts Management and Music course at Dartington College of Arts and I am now working as a Projects and Development Manager within the broadcast, film, video and interactive media industry. My first job after graduating was as FOH (front of house) Assistant / Stage Door Keeper. I went to secondary school and then a Further Education college in Rochdale. I started at University when I was 19 and graduated in 2001. I went to University straight from college. I'd always wanted to go, and thought it would be fun. I found the best thing about University was that it was small and friendly. The worst thing was that it was too insular. I chose my degree subject because I'd always been involved in music and was interested in arts management, so it was natural. My advice to others who are thinking about going to university is – do it! In terms of life after university, I'm currently working in Torquay in Devon. My hopes for the future are to earn more and to run my own venue or company. The best thing about my current job is that my CV has grown enormously. The worst is that there is too much work! My advice for anybody wanting to get into my line of work is to get as much experience as possible because there are very few 'beginners' jobs. More Stories > |
