Students on mainstream courses also have the opportunity to partake in the 'Activity Zone', a programme of non-examination courses and recreational activities, which take place on Wednesday afternoons. Many different sports are included such as team sports and basketball, as well as a variety of other activities, including music and drama, outdoor pursuits, surfing, photography, yoga, community arts project and ceramics. The College also offers students the chance to work towards the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.

 

We boast an outstanding reputation for team sports and our Sports Hall provides 800 square metres of covered practice area for major sports along with a fitness training and performance analysis suite, plus an impressive climbing wall. Our association with the Penzance and Newlyn Rugby Club offers many opportunities for competitive rugby and this year has seen the launch of a new rugby union - the Penwith College Pirates, bringing together the dynamic coaching of Kevin Moseley, the Pirates first team and the academic excellence of the sports lecturers at the College.
