Richard Huish College![]() The College occupies a site of eight hectares, of which 70% is sports fields, in the south of Taunton.
The College buildings range in age from 1880 to 2003 and take their names from some of the fine tree specimens that cover the campus. Over the period 2000 – 2003, two major building projects have resulted in the Willow Building and the Hawthorn Building, each providing outstanding facilities for teaching and learning, with additional facilities for music and sport. Also in 2003, the Arthur C Clarke Learning Resource Centre, at the heart of the campus, was extended and completely refurbished. Every student is an individual at Richard Huish College, and you will have your own ideas to bring to us when choosing your programme. The really important thing is that we work with you, taking advice from teachers who know you well in your present school, in order to design the most appropriate programme to give you the extra breadth that has been the hallmark of study at advanced level. You will be able to choose freely from our main programme of advanced level courses. In addition we provide a programme of Key Skills, which covers the areas of Communication, Information Technology and Application of Number, for all our students. This valuable programme runs alongside A Levels and enables students to improve their level of competence in these important skills. You will also be able to choose from our wide range of enrichment activities. Many of these activities take place during the College day, so that those who live some distance from College are not prevented from taking part by transport restrictions. These activities fulfil an essential role in the ‘whole person’ development of young people. Feel free to talk to us, look on our website or contact the College directly for further information. Also you can come to our Open Evenings, where subject teachers will be available to answer your questions. Please contact us whenever you want. We are happy to handle enquiries at any time. Remember, the decisions you make are critical to your future career. Getting them right is important. The Richard Huish College
