Activity 13: Waldorf Star Lantern
Give yourself a more challenging paper-crafting project this week, with Vanessa's Star Lantern tutorial. This project will take more than two hours to make.
YOU WILL NEED:
Paper - You could use one of your paintings from Activity Six or any other paper.
WHAT TO DO:
Place all your materials on a craft board and start making 10 pentagons size: 10 cm on each side. This should leave you with a big sized pentagons.
Gather all your materials: use one of your paintings (from a few weeks ago) as paper or any paper you have lying around. You will also need a glue stick, scissors, a ruler and pencil.
On the back of the pentagon, start drawing lines from each corner to another opposite corner. You will end up with a star drawing in the middle.
Now fold each point on the star to the line ahead (see photo). Do this will all points, which will then make it look like a star. Repeat this with all 10 pentagons.
Now start attaching the pentagons one piece at a time by overlapping one on the sides (see photo). You should do this with 5 pentagons.
Repeat Step 5 with the other 5 pentagons.
Now attach both pentagon rows to each other by glueing the sides together. At the end it becomes difficult and you may have to hold the glued parts for longer to create a stable star lantern!
There is another tutorial on the Pinterest site which you may want to look at if the photos aren’t clear enough. Enjoy!
If you make one of these, please send us a photo - we would love to see!
