Activity 141:  Felt Doughnuts

Sew yourself a cute little doughnut - great as a decoration or to use as a pincushion for your sewing needles.

You Will Need:

  • Brown Felt: 16cm x 30cm

  • Coloured Felt: 13cm x 13cm

  • Embroidery Thread

  • Stuffing

  • Small Beads

  • Pattern

  • Template

Step by step guide:

Using the templates, cut out your felt. You will need two of the round doughnut shape and one of the icing shape. You will need to cut a line through to the middle of the brown felt and add a circle in the middle of all pieces, as shown.

Sew the doughnut closed by stitching the two sides of the line together. This can be difficult, so take your time.

Place your two pieces of brown doughnut felt together and start to sew around the edges. Do this to both the inside and outside circle, leaving the line unsewn.

Stitch your beads onto your icing felt. If you don’t have beads, you could use different colours of thread to stitch little lines.

Carefully turn your doughnut inside out so that the stitching is on the inside. Stuff the doughnut.

Place your icing onto the doughnut – stitch round both the sides and centre hole to complete your project.
