Activity 21: Crayon Melt Drawing
These beautiful crayon melt drawings can be used for many different reasons - from card making to wall hangings.
You could use a huge mix of colours for a multicoloured effect, or stick to a theme - such as shades of blue for a sky / sea inspired look.
Follow Vanessa's tutorial below for a step by step guide on how to put one of these together.
YOU WILL NEED:
Hard Wax Crayons (Cheap Ones!)
WHAT TO DO:
Gather all your materials: hard waxy crayons (the cheaper, the better), strong paper, baking paper, iron, scissors and a felt tip pen.
Create a blank space on your card by placing a piece of paper or a cut out (like my h&m tag) onto the paper.
Start grating the wax crayons with the scissors, don’t worry if you get wax onto the cut out piece of paper.
Once you are happy with the amount of wax shavings you gently place the baking paper over the art work and iron the wax onto the paper. I put my iron on high, it just made it quick and easy for all the wax to stick.
Gently take off the baking paper. Now decide what you will write or draw in the blank bit!
You may decide to make it into a birthday card or frame it.
I hope you enjoyed this activity as mush as I did - with its instant result it is a great one to do with any age in your household too!
If you make one of these, please send us a photo - we would love to see!
