Activity 25: Chocolate Orange on the BBQ

This is a completely mess free bake with a guaranteed tasty result.

  • Brownie Mix (+ extra ingredients it states on the pack, usually vegetable oil and an egg),

  • An orange,

  • Aluminium foil,

  • A plastic sandwich bag,

  • Ice cream scooper or spoon

  • Scissors

Step 1.

Get your ingredients ready: brownie mix (+ extra ingredients it states on the pack, usually vegetable oil and an egg), an orange, aluminium foil, a plastic sandwich bag, a ice cream scooper or spoon and a pair of scissors.

Step 2.

Cut the top of your orange off. A little less than 1/4th of the orange (think of how you would cut the top of a pumpkin for pumpkin carving).

Step 3.

Scoop out all the orange in order to be left with a bare orange. Don’t worry if you don’t get it all out; it will add to the flavour.

Step 4.

Now make the brownie mix, according to the pack, in your plastic sandwich bag. Mix it in the bag by squeezing your hands on the bag: mess free!

Step 5.

Cut a tip of the bag, making it into a piping bag.

Step 6.

Fill the orange half way with the brownie mix. Put the lid on top of it and wrap the orange with the foil.

Step 7.

Now pop it onto the BBQ for about 20 minutes! I popped mine in a preheated oven (check your brownie mix for oven temperature) for 20 minutes and it was divine. Enjoy!

If you make one of these, please send us a photo - we would love to see!
