Activity 54: Toadstool: Sewn Together!
Over the next few weeks, we will make an autumnal seasonal table.
You can bring the seasonal table out each year and celebrate autumn and all its beauty.
Each week we will make one item. You may wish to make this at home with your own materials or you are welcome to pop into the Gallery on the collection times, next week and collect your Toadstool pack for week 1 of the seasonal table.
YOU WILL NEED:
Felt: Red and White
A bit of filling
WHAT TO DO:
Firstly cut your felt in the shapes shown below. My toadstool is approx. 5 cm long - I would suggest not to make it much bigger as it becomes more difficult to balance.
Now fold your white bottom part of the hood of the toadstool, in half. Make a small cut into this.
Open it up and fold it the other way and again make a small cut into it. The cuts will allow for the stem of the toadstool to be sewn on neatly. It also allows for a space to pop the filling in.
Pop the filling in.
Sew the round white bottom of the stem onto the stem.
Sew the stem onto the hood.
Sew your dots of the toadstool onto the red hood.
Sew the white and red hood together.
Now sewn the stem together.
Fill your stem with little stones (or anything heavy).
That’s it - you may wish to place your toadstool next to a pumpkin to get your seasonal table started!
If you make one of these, please send us a photo - we would love to see!
