Activity 58: Bird Feeders

We’ll be creating a few different bird feeders; a pine cone one, a cookie cutter shaped one and a ball shaped one.

YOU WILL NEED:

  • A bird feeder collection pack, which contains:

    • Bird seed,

    • 3 x pine cones and

    • 3 x twig string.

  • A bowl

  • A tea spoon

  • A table spoon

  • Peanut butter or coconut oil

  • A cookie cutter

  • A pencil

Pine Cone Bird Feeders:

  • Place a third of the bird seed into a bowl.

  • Tie the twig string around the top the pine cone with a double knot.

  • Get a teaspoon full of peanut butter and start covering the pine cone with peanut butter.

  • Now roll the peanut butter filled pine cone into the bird seed. Cover the whole cone.

  • It is now ready to be hung up for the birds to enjoy.

Cookie Cutter Shaped Bird Feeders:

  • Place your cookie cutter onto a baking paper.

  • Pop a table spoon full of coconut oil into a bowl.

  • Microwave it for a few seconds until liquid.

  • Add a third of the birdseed into the coconut liquid oil.

  • Mix it well with the tablespoon.

  • Fill your cookie cutter with the mixture.

  • Make a hole with a pencil, where you would like to hang the bird feeder from.

  • Flatten it down and place in the fridge to harden for approx. 2 hours.

  • Once hardened, take it out of the cookie cutter and hang it up with the piece of string.

Ball Shaped Bird Feeder:

  • Pop a table spoon full of coconut oil into a bowl.

  • Microwave it for a few seconds until liquid.

  • Add a third of the birdseed into the coconut liquid oil.

  • Mix it well with the tablespoon.

  • With your hands, create a ball shape out of the mixture.

  • Tie the twig string around it a few times and knot it at the top.

Please send us some photographs of the birds enjoying your creation!
