Activity 68:  Bread Baking


Make your own white bread baking from plain flour!


You Will Need: 

  • 500 grams of plain flour

  • 7 grams of dried yeast

  • 15 grams of butter

  • 10 grams of salt

  • 5 grams of sugar (optional)

  • 290 ml of warm water

Step by step guide:


Add all the dry ingredients in a bowl and mix them together.


Mix in the butter then the water to form a soft dough.


Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface until it is smooth and elastic but not sticky. Approx. 15 min.


Shape the dough on a baking tray and leave to rise in a warm place until it has doubled in size.


Preheat the oven to 230 degrees/ fan 210 /Gas Mark 8

Place the dough in the centre of the oven reduce temperature: 210 degrees / fan 190/ Gas Mark 7 and bake for 30 minutes.


Remove from oven. Enjoy.
