Activity 9: Sun Catcher

We have recently all made a sun catcher for our lovely window display. I loved them so much that I decided to buy a book on how to make more of them. Below you will find the instructions of one of them. I know some people enjoy having a step by step approach written down. The sun catcher I made was meant to look like the picture in the book, however I got too confused and decided to do my own thing. Please feel free to do the same!

YOU WILL NEED:

  • Tissue Paper

  • Glue Stick

  • Scissors

What to do:

Step 1.

Gather all your materials: tissue paper, scissors and a glue stick.

Step 2.

Cut your tissue paper to size, see instructions (at the end of this page). Or if you are designing your own sun catcher – a square 10x10cm would work well.

Step 3.

Fold your sun catcher.

You can make your own design, or follow a tutorial like the one at the bottom of this page.

Step 4.

Assemble your sun catcher (without glue first, then when you are happy with it glue it all together).

Step 5.

Hang up your sun catcher and let it do its job of catching the rays and bringing them into your home!

If you make one of these, please send us a photo - we would love to see!
