Activity 93: Paper Ball and Card Umbrella
We are going to make a Paper Ball, which can be adapted to make a paper umbrella in card.
We made this in one of our online classes - see our gallery page for some examples.
You Will Need:
-
Nice coloured paper
-
Pencil
-
A mug
-
Scissors
-
Glue
-
For the umbrella card you will need a card and a pen too.

Step by step guide:

Trace the circumference of the mug onto the paper.

Repeat step 1, at least 6 times to create 1 ball.
Cut out all 6 circles.

Fold each circle into a half circle with the pencil marking on the inside.
Now start to glue each half circle onto each other as shown on the photo. Hold the glue for a little bit to ensure the paper will stay in place.

If you would like to hang your ball up or make a garland out of them add your string before sticking the last paper part on.
Adaption Idea: Umbrella Card
In order to make the umbrella, you simply follow step 1 to 4, but cut the circle in half before sticking it together.
You then place the umbrella exactly in the fold of your card when you open the card and add a little line for your umbrella holder. Simple!
