Activity 95:   Wool Flowers

With just a few materials, you can create beautiful wool flowers.

You Will Need:

  • A square piece of card

  • Woollen thread

  • Scissors

Step by step guide:

Wrap the first part of the wool over the card. No knots are needed - just wrap over the initial starting point.

Now wrap the wool round on the other side too - again without cutting the wool or making a knot.

You now have a cross of wool. This needs to be tied together by looping a needle and the wool in and out of the middle of the cross.

Once the middle is secured add a knot by creating a loop knot.

Now continue the thread to each end (of the petal) and loop knot around this to secure each petal. You achieve this by weaving in and out of the woollen flower.

Now we repeat step 3, 4 and 5 on the other side too.

You could glue on a bead in the middle of the cross now- which could enhance the flower look.

Cut a triangle out of each corner of the square. Now start gently rolling up the card and fluffing out your flower into its shape.

You can now eliminate the card and the flower will stay in it’s puffed up state.

Happy flowering!
