Singing for Breathing and Wellbeing: New Online Class
From next week, we will be starting a new 10 week online course on Singing for Breathing and Wellbeing. This is a free class and is open to everyone.
These classes will be delivered weekly by a trained singing and breathing practitioner.
Our first class is on Monday, 6th July at 2pm for 45 minutes.
The focus of these sessions is to improve breathing and to promote positive lung health. Our tutor currently runs groups for individuals with conditions such as COPD and asthma, as well as mental health conditions which may affect breathing such as panic, stress and anxiety.
Using singing as the tool for practice, participants will be able to explore positive breathing techniques, learn to have better control over their breathing, and improve posture. These workshops are also a great way to connect people and have a laugh – great for positive mental wellbeing.
These classes are open to everyone, not just those with lung conditions.
You do not need to have any skills at singing - this is more about breathing well. You will also be muted on Zoom during the activities, which alleviates any pressure as others will not be able to hear you. You can additionally choose to remain anonymous if you want and leave your camera switched off.
This project is funded by the Govan COVID-19 Temporary Emergency Fund. It is open to both Creative Steps participants and the wider community.
